Special Weather Statement issued July 18 at 3:01PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 300 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Athens to 12 miles southeast of Chillicothe. Movement was south at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Athens, Wellston, Mcarthur, Albany, Coolville, Lake Hope State Park, Chauncey, Hamden, Coalton, Zaleski, Creola, Eagle Mills, Radcliffe, Stroud Run State Park, Allensville, Byer, Carpenter, and The Plains. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
