Heat Advisory issued June 30 at 9:20PM CDT until July 4 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Heat index values up to 104 each afternoon. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and northeast Kansas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Special Weather Statement issued June 30 at 10:38PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS At 1038 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles north of Lebanon to Barnard. Movement was east at 50 mph. HAZARD...Strong wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Minneapolis, Bennington, Glasco, Delphos, Tescott, Jamestown, Courtland, Culver, Wells, Niles, and Ada. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Strong winds with these storms will occur before any rain or lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder to go inside.
