Flood Watch issued July 4 at 10:11AM CDT until July 4 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois, including the following areas, Mercer and Rock Island and Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott and Washington. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional rounds of slow moving storms today over a saturated ground to bring an elevated risk for flash flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Special Weather Statement issued July 4 at 6:59PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL At 658 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Bankston, or 10 miles west of Dubuque, moving south at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Strong winds could break small tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Dubuque, Asbury, Dyersville, Cascade, Epworth, Farley, Peosta, New Vienna, Colesburg, Holy Cross, La Motte, Luxemburg, Rickardsville, Sherrill, Centralia, Sageville, Bernard, Zwingle, Balltown, and Bankston. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Stay away from flooded areas. Report any flooding to local law enforcement. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
