Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * Until 900 PM MST. * At 801 PM MST, a wall of dust was along a line extending from near Metro Center to near Waddell to near Palo Verde to near Gila Bend, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Public. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. * This includes the following highways... AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 74 and 125. AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 89 and 114. US Highway 60 between mile markers 99 and 154. Locations impacted include... Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Buckeye, El Mirage, Wickenburg, Youngtown, Gila Bend, Tonopah, Sun City West, Waddell, Circle City, and Sun City. Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.
