Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving thunderstorms and those moving over the same areas feeding off a high moisture environment may result in rainfall rates in excess of 2-3"/hr. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * Until 1245 AM MST. * At 1022 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Scottsdale and Desert Ridge Marketplace. This includes the following streams and drainages... Verde River, Cave Creek and Apache Wash. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
