Flood Watch issued May 20 at 3:36PM AKDT until May 21 at 1:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is possible. * WHERE...The Yukon River downstream of Pilot Station including near St Mary's and Pitkas Point. * WHEN...Through Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Water levels are high at St. Mary's and Pitkas Point. If another ice jam forms, water could rise further and cause flooding in low lying areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The ice jam downstream of Pilot Station released around 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon, and the ice started moving at Mountain Village at 4:30 pm Sunday. Water levels at Mountain Village went up approximately 5 feet Sunday night. Water levels remain high at Mountain Village, St Mary's and Pitkas Point today. If another ice jam forms, the water levels could rise and cause flooding of low lying areas. - Https://www.weather.gov/aprfc Pitkas Point and St. Mary's residents should continue to monitor river conditions through Tuesday morning as the ice and water continue to move downstream.
