To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 2:48PM CDT by NWS Huntsville AL At 248 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Woodville, or 12 miles west of Scottsboro, moving west at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Huntsville, Scottsboro, Redstone Arsenal, Owens Cross Roads, Grant, Skyline, Gurley, Section, Woodville, and Alabama A And M University. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
