Special Weather Statement issued May 24 at 9:13AM CDT by NWS Memphis TN At 913 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Thrashers, or 9 miles east of Booneville, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Corinth, Booneville, Ripley, Baldwyn, Red Bay, Iuka, Pickwick Landing State Park, J P Coleman State Park, Big Hill Pond State Park, Tishomingo State Park, Lamar, Saltillo, Guntown, Belmont, Burnsville, Blue Mountain, Jumpertown, Glen, Tishomingo, and Snow Lake Shores. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Flood Advisory issued May 24 at 8:40AM CDT until May 24 at 11:45AM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of North Mississippi, including the following counties, Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo and West Tennessee, including the following counties, Hardin and McNairy. * WHEN...Until 1145 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 840 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
