Special Weather Statement issued May 26 at 2:25PM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana At 225 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Marion, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Marion, Huntington, Bluffton, Hartford City, Gas City, Upland, Dunkirk, Montpelier, Jonesboro, Sweetser, Andrews, Markle, Swayzee, La Fontaine, Van Buren, Converse, Warren, Lancaster, Lagro, and Uniondale. This includes Interstate 69 in Indiana between mile markers 256 and 289. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for northeastern and east central Indiana.
