The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has issued a Coastal Flood Warning, which is in effect from 5 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EDT Wednesday. The Coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect. * LOCATIONS...Shoreline in Arlington County and the city of Alexandria. * TIDAL DEPARTURE...Around 2 feet above normal. * TIMING...Around the time of high tide. High tide at Old Town Alexandria will be 9:34 PM tonight and 9:51 AM Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Water is expected to approach buildings near King Street and Union Street. Shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere. To view inundation maps of potential flooding, visit http://weather.gov/washington/potomacinundationmaps. A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and property. A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
