Avoid putting yourself in danger: Avoid outdoor activities in exposed areas, such as on mountains, in water, or on open fields. Make sure you are not the highest point in the area. Seek shelter during the thunderstorm, but avoid taking cover under a tree. Do not stay in water or in a small boat.
